Simulation: Draining Swamped Boat. Open Transom door acts as a giant scupper, draining the boat in 6 secs.

Prototype flap in transom door acting as an oversized scupper. Door rejected in favour of a simple slide, removed in heavy sea conditions, to allow water to drain quickly.
Transom slide removed allows swamped water to drain very quickly. The 170mm upstand retains roughly 1 Tonne of water left to drain thru the sock and scupper (if fitted)
Swamped boat with slide fitted holds 3 Tonne of water. Removing the slide when swamped almost impossible. Leave it out in rough conditions.
Sock and/or Scupper required to drain remaining water from the deck.
